The Reactive Colors: Glass to Glass Reactions
Judith Conway & Kevin O’Toole, Owners/Artists at Vitrum Studio
Tuition $350 - Deposit $175
Intermediate level.
February 12 & 13, 2011
Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4pm each day
Glass to Glass Reactions is an intensive introduction to working with the wide variety of glass colors that chemically react with each other during the fusing or flameworking process.
Using observation, sample making and class discussions, our goal is to give the student a good working understanding of the reactive potential of the Bullseye glasses. We explain how to avoid unwanted reactions, and focus on methods that use reaction to expand the existing color palette.
You will begin by creating sample charts of the reactive glasses as a reference for your home studio. Samples made the first day will inform the final project - a larger kilnformed composition that incorporates color reactions as a part of the design.
Please note: This class is a pre-requisite for the Reactive Colors: Silver and Glass, which is offered on Saturday and Sunday, April 30th and May 1st, 2011.
